The United Nations Organization (UNO) or simply United Nations (UN) is an international organization whose stated aims are facilitating cooperation in international law, international security, economic development, social progress, human rights, and the achieving of world peace. The UN was founded in 1945 after World War II to replace the League of Nations, to stop wars between countries, and to provide a platform for dialogue. It contains multiple subsidiary organizations to carry out its missions.

There are currently 192 member states, including nearly every sovereign state in the world. From its offices around the world, the UN and its specialized agencies decide on substantive and administrative issues in regular meetings held throughout the year. The organization has six principal organs: the General Assembly (the main deliberative assembly); the Security Council (for deciding certain resolutions for peace and security); the Economic and Social Council (for assisting in promoting international economic and social cooperation and development); the Secretariat (for providing studies, information, and facilities needed by the UN); the International Court of Justice (the primary judicial organ); and the United Nations Trusteeship Council (which is currently inactive). Other prominent UN System agencies include the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Food Programme (WFP) and United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). The UN's most visible public figure is the Secretary-General, currently Ban Ki-moon of South Korea, who attained the post in 2007. The organization is financed from assessed and voluntary contributions from its member states, and has six official languages: Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), English, French, Russian and Spanish.

Is the United States contempt for the United Nations the biggest scandal of all?
Q. The USA Government continues to be contemptuous of the United Nations thus undermining the credibility and influence of the UN. But the US has over all too many years failed to support the UN financially to the extent that it could and should. The scandal is that America is frighteningly willing to spend billions of dollars on war, but unwilling to spend a fraction of that on peace. The UN gives peace a chance - but the US prefers the sword and treats the UN with contempt. How sad and contemptible is this?

A. America is a founding member of the UN and holds a very important veto power in her Security Council. What we are all seeing now as regards to America's attitude to the UN is a result of the impotency of America's diplomacy, seems the US State does not have the capacity and skills needed to explain to the world Americas standing on issues...and at the face of International reluctance to tow her line, we see behaviour that can best be classed as infantile. We are in the 21st century, everybody should have their say and due respect.

Should the United Nations organize an armed intervention in Zimbabwe?
Q. Considering that Robert Mugabe is the root cause of Zimbabwe's crisis and that millions in aid money from foreign nations have been embezzled, should the United Nations invade? It seems like a waste to keep giving money to Zimbabwe -- in addition, what's going on there is also harming neighboring countries who do not have the sources or support to invade. What do you think?

A. Lets learn from history. Countries the UN or other groups have invaded to stabilize recently - Somalia, Iraq, Afganistan, Congo - several times. It is easy enough to overthrow a regime. Mugabe could be kicked out and probably deserves it. The real question is would the average Zimbabwean be better off. Only if the UN was prepared to invest a lot to fix the place up and repair the damages of invasion. After all, they would want to neutralise any possible defense. If the UN were going to do something then rather do it before the place is destroyed - 5 years ago and not watch it happen. Western businesses have been investing in the place - in mining for example and local countries with the exception of Botswana and Zambia have not stood up… [cont.]

Does the United Nations wants to collect taxes from American citizens?
Q. It is true that the United Nations wants to collected taxes from American Cititens? If this is true will you pay taxes to United Nations?

A. You are already paying taxes to the UN. Your tax dollars go to the government. The government pays the UN. Without the US bankrolling it, the UN would be bankrupt. We pay more money than any other country. The US provides 25% of all of the UN's funding.
