I was just wondering which states receive the energy from it. Do all the bordering states share the energy or do they all get a fair share? If you have an answer please tell me. Thank you. Answered by whsgreenmom - Sat Nov 21 22:05:10 2009 Why would states having more authority than the central government be beneficial to America? Q. There are so many people that argue that states were given their authority in the constitution and it has gradually been taken from them. I understand that, but why would it be beneficial to America to undo those things now, such as the 17th amendment. I have asked this before and many responses just state why it's not beneficial or that it was set up this way so we should keep it this way. I'm just looking for reasons it would benefit. The more specific, the better. I would like some links, articles, or other places to cite also. Asked by respect_306 - Mon Aug 3 10:00:33 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments A. When your tyrant is over a thousand miles away (D.C.), it is hard to get his attention. When he is just a couple of hours away (your State Capitol), you can pull his chain when he tries to get too far out of line. As the pool of "constituents" gets larger, YOUR voice tends to not get heard (unless you have some lobbyists). Local government is more accountable to the people than a far away centralized government. Answered by Tupperware Party - Mon Aug 3 10:34:47 2009 When did local state elections begin pandering to people of other states on a national level to contribute?
Q. Local elections should be represented and supported by the people of that district. Now ANYBODY from anywhere can do anything short of voting for states they don't even live in! It seems illegal to me. I have strong political beliefs, but I am setting aside whether or not I am liberal or conservative. You make a good point, Lawrence. I would NEVER compromise the first amendment. I think it's more an issue of integrity. Asked by Cub6265 - Wed May 19 00:19:47 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. I understand the honor behind the argument you present; however, since you don't forfeit your First Amendment rights when leaving your home state or district, a Federal Law would most likely be unconstitutional. I do not think, however, that would prevent the states themselves from enacting state laws about such concerns. Edit: I 100% agree, that's why I think a state law is the best way to go about doing what you suggest.
