Murder, as defined in common law countries, is the unlawful killing of another human being with intent (or malice aforethought), and generally this state of mind distinguishes murder from other forms of unlawful homicide (such as manslaughter). As the loss of a human being inflicts enormous grief upon the individuals close to the victim, as well as the fact that the commission of a murder is highly detrimental to the good order within society, most societies both present and in antiquity have considered it a most serious crime worthy of the harshest of punishment. In the US, a person convicted of murder is typically given a life sentence or even the death penalty for such an act. In other western countries the punishment is generally much more lenient. A person who commits murder is called a murderer ; the term murderess, meaning a woman who murders, has largely fallen into disuse. From Wikipedia under the

I'm a romance author but I want to start getting into murder mystery short stories. Is it better when it is in the point of view of the murderer or one of the detectives? What are the key ingredients to a good murder mystery? Asked by R. R. Pearson - Tue Mar 10 01:50:46 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. Unless the detective is a sparkling character given to memorable quotes and a tendency to flout authority, stick with the point of view of someone else. Not a good idea to use the murderer. You could always have a male reporter who has the hots for a female detective, do the reporting on the murder and the trial. That way you could work in some of your romance background and spice up the story a bit. Answered by old lady - Tue Mar 10 02:07:58 2009 What is the easiest way to murder someone who fired you? Q. Q. Some people say that assassination is the murder of an important person. But then, who decides whether you're important enough to be assassinated. Is there some sort of set way or scale to measure one's importance and to differentiate between assassination and murder? Asked by indiequeen007 - Tue Mar 10 14:28:09 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments A. Assassination "is the intentional killing of a specified victim or group of victims, perpetrated for a reason related to his (her, their) public prominence and undertaken with a political purpose in view." If the person who was murdered was a public figure, and the killing was politically motivated, it was an assassination. Answered by Pixie Stix - Tue Mar 10 14:35:13 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Murder" Homicide refers to the act of killing another human being. Although homicide does not define an illegal act necessarily, sometimes it is used synonymously with "murder." Sourced
